What Happens During the Day
Morning circle opens with connection and planning. Children might discuss observations from home, propose project ideas, or learn songs together. Teachers build on children’s contributions rather than imposing predetermined themes.
Extended play periods follow. You might see a child carefully arranging pattern blocks, testing geometric relationships. Another paints at the easel, experimenting with colour mixing. A group builds an elaborate structure from loose parts, negotiating design decisions and solving engineering problems.
Outdoor time is daily and essential. Children run, climb, balance, dig in sand, observe nature, build with branches and stones. Rain creates puddles for investigation and mud for construction.
Mealtimes teach practical life skills. Children serve themselves, pour drinks, clear dishes. Conversations flow naturally as children and teachers eat together.
Rest time accommodates different needs. Younger children sleep while older children engage quietly with books, puzzles or drawing.
