Convenient for Mission Bay Families
Located at 36 Allum Street in neighbouring Kohimarama, we’re perfectly positioned for Mission Bay parents seeking quality early education without the commute across town. Many of our families live in Mission Bay and appreciate the easy 5-minute drive up Tamaki Drive.
We have a driveway for convenient drop-off and pick-up right at our entrance. We understand that professional families need childcare that works with their schedules, which is why we’re open Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm.
Why Mission Bay Parents Choose Us
Mission Bay families value quality, and that’s exactly what we deliver. Our hand-picked teaching team includes educators with backgrounds in Montessori, kindergarten teaching, special education and environment design. Every teacher is qualified, experienced and genuinely passionate about early childhood development.
We keep our class sizes small deliberately. Low teacher-to-child ratios mean your child receives individual attention and we can tailor our approach to each child’s interests, temperament and learning style.
Play-Based Learning That Prepares Children for School
Our approach is grounded in Te Whāriki, New Zealand’s early childhood curriculum, with a strong focus on play-based, child-led learning. Children learn best when they’re engaged, curious and having fun. Read more about our programme.
Each day includes morning circle time, outdoor play, creative activities, mealtimes and quiet rest time. We change our resources and materials weekly to keep the environment fresh and engaging. One week might focus on nature and science exploration, the next on construction and engineering concepts.
What Your Child Will Develop
Through our program, children build confidence in their abilities, learn to work independently and cooperatively with others, develop strong social and emotional skills, express themselves creatively through art, music and movement, and develop the foundational skills needed for primary school.
We’re not about pushing academic pressure onto young children. Instead, we create an environment where learning happens naturally through exploration, experimentation and play.
Beautiful Learning Spaces
Our Kohimarama preschool features thoughtfully designed indoor and outdoor spaces that encourage different types of play and learning. You’ll find quiet areas for reading and concentration, an art atelier for creative expression, construction zones for building and problem-solving, outdoor areas for active play and nature exploration, and comfortable spaces for group activities and social connection.
Our environment designer, Hayley, has transformed our spaces into playful, intentional learning environments. Every element is chosen with purpose, from the natural materials and open-ended toys to the way furniture is arranged to encourage independence and choice.
Childcare That Works for Professional Parents
Many of our Mission Bay families are professionals, doctors at Mercy Hospital, lawyers at city firms, business owners, dentists and other high-achieving parents who want quality care for their children while they work.
We understand the demands on professional parents. Our program runs 4-5 days per week for most families, providing consistency for children and reliability for parents. We’re nanny-friendly, with a driveway for easy drop-off and communication systems that make coordination straightforward.
Our families appreciate that we handle the details, from the weekly programme changes that keep children engaged to maintaining consistent communication about their child’s day.
Our Teaching Team
Our teachers are what make our preschool special. Each brings unique expertise and genuine passion for early childhood education.
Together, they create a space where every child feels safe, capable and excited to explore. Learn more about our team.
Serving Eastern Auckland Suburbs
While we’re particularly convenient for Mission Bay families, we also welcome children from throughout Auckland’s eastern suburbs. Many families travel from further afield because their nanny handles drop-off and pick-up, making geographic distance less of a constraint.
We also serve families in:
St Heliers Preschool – Orakei Preschool – Parnell Preschool – Remuera Preschool – Glendowie Preschool
